WWI Sports Injuries
Don’t let sports injuries keep you on the bench. Our accelerated healing program has helped professional football and baseball players, elite motocross racers, collegiate and high school athletes, marathon runners, and recreational sports enthusiasts get back in the game.
The Conventional Approach
Head to any conventional medical facility after an injury and you’ll probably be told to follow the RICE protocol (rest, ice, compression, elevation). This advice is great. However, you’re also likely to be told to take prescription or over-the-counter nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), COX-2 inhibitors, or stronger painkillers.
While occasional use of these drugs is acceptable, using them long-term can be disastrous. NSAIDs are notorious for causing stomach upset, ulcers, and serious bleeding that result in more than 16,000 deaths each year. In addition to GI problems, COX-2 inhibitors also increase risk of stroke and heart attack. And opiates are highly addictive and have a potential for abuse.
Although surgical treatment is sometimes necessary, studies suggest that invasive procedures are often recommended prematurely, before safer options have been exhausted.
How We Treat Sports Injuries
Our goal in the treatment of injuries is straightforward: to facilitate rapid healing, eliminate pain, and get you back in the game as fast as possible. Whitaker Wellness’ multipronged approach has been used with success by numerous professional football and baseball players, elite motocross racers, collegiate and high school athletes, marathon runners, and recreational sports enthusiasts.
The unique therapies we offer are effective not only as stand-alone treatments but also as an adjunct to conventional modalities. For example, if you’ve undergone surgery, we will recommend nutrients and noninvasive therapies have been proven to reduce risk of infection, boost collagen formation, stimulate the formation of new tissue, and reduce scarring. Fractures, sprains, strains, bruises, contusion, abrasions, and crush injuries also respond well with more rapid healing.
Unique Therapies
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy: Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) uses 100 percent oxygen administered inside a pressurized chamber to deliver massive amounts of healing oxygen throughout the body. HBOT also enhances the white blood cells’ ability to fight infection, kills pathogenic bacteria, and helps the body build new connective tissue and blood vessels, hastening recovery from injuries of all kinds. It also facilitates post-surgical healing.
Microcurrent Therapy: This novel treatment utilizes extremely low-level electrical currents (microcurrents) to treat nerve and muscle pain, inflammation, and other health challenges. It restores normal frequencies in the cells, resulting in remarkable improvements in pain and function.
Infrared Light Therapy: This therapy harnesses special wavelengths of energy to dramatically increase circulation in injury sites and areas of chronic pain. The result is rapid relief of pain and inflammation.
Prolotherapy: Prolotherapy strengthens and tightens the ligaments and tendons that hold bones and muscles in place. Through a series of injections that stimulate the body’s natural healing response, proper joint alignment is restored for lasting pain relief and normal function.
IV Nutrients and Nutritional Supplements: The body’s requirements for vitamin C and other nutrients required for the healing process soar after injury. Studies have shown that supplying optimal doses of collagen- and tissue-building vitamins and minerals speed healing following trauma, surgery, burns, and wounds.
Chiropractic and Massage Therapy: Chiropractic manipulations restore spinal alignment, increase mobility, and decrease pain. Massage relaxes muscle strain and spasm, which are common causes of pain following injury.
Acupuncture and Reflexology: Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese medical art that relieves pain and treats disease by restoring the normal flow of energy though the body. Reflexology involves stimulating specific points on the feet, hands, and ears in order to promote relaxation, relieve pain, and treat a wide range of health problems.
Physical Therapy: One-on-one sessions with a trained therapist are a proven method of restoring function following injury.
Don’t let sports injuries keep you on the bench. The Whitaker Wellness Institute can help you get you back in the game. Our accelerated healing program combines several proven therapies that result in faster recovery and dramatic reduction in pain.
